About Ordbalans & Åsa

I formed Ordbalans in 2009 but I have been working as a translator since 1993. I helped translate EU legislation prior to the accession of Sweden to the EU in 1995. This was an excellent introduction to the translation profession and gave me in-depth knowledge of the EU. Several years as a translator at the EU Commission gave me international experience and broadened my horizons.

Over the years, I have honed my skills and specialised in financial texts, the environment and society. I also like new challenges and finding new fields in which to work. For example, I recently began working with publisher Modellrallaren, revising their texts about model railways and railway history.

I run my own business but that does not mean I am a small player. I have a large network of skilled partners with whom I can work. This allows me to take on large projects as well, drawing on the resources I need.

I want to simplify complex texts

Love of language should be infectious. Reading should be fun. My job is to show respect for both author and reader when I work on a text. Whether I am translating EU reports or revising books about model railways, I am driven by the same desire: to communicate information. If I am able to get across and clarify the author’s language so that the reader can really read and get something out of the text, then I have succeeded.

With roots in Uppland and Lapland, and experience of EU bureaucracy in Brussels, I have learned that there are different ways of looking at things. I like to learn and my clients call me a self-starter. They’re right. I’m also very good at meeting deadlines. With a healthy dose of pragmatism, I am also a natural problem solver.

I like to work in a team, both as project manager and team member. The important thing is for the result to be good.
